I HAVE AN OBSESSION WITH ANIMAL PAINTINGS

I love art.

I didn’t develop a love for art until I moved to Mississippi, which is pretty dang sad considering I lived in and around Austin, Texas for so many years. To think about all of the amazing art and artists I overlooked because I was too busy double-fisting breakfast tacos and drowning myself in queso—-it makes me sick!

If life would have taken a different turn and I ended up in the city, my taste in art would probably be a LOT different. But because I live in FarmVille–down the dirt road, over the levee, across the cattle gap and behind the big stupid dumb gate that is ruining my life–I have grown to love paintings of animals. Cows, deer, ducks, turkeys, hogs and all the other wildlife you see living in the woods on the Mighty Mississippi. If anyone knows of someone who paints coyotes, I have recently developed another slight obsession with packs of wild coyotes. They come into my yard at night and do that little high-pitched barking noise and I feel like I’m camping but I get to sleep in my own bed. Best of both worlds. A modern coyote painting would just rock.

I was on Pinterest this morning and found this artist, Robert Joyner, who is a painter from Richmond, Virginia. I love his cow paintings. I see cows more than I see my friends. Sometimes I think the cows are my friends. What???

I love all of his paintings, but the one above is what I have my heart set on.

Go check him out… http://www.robertjoynerartist.com/portfolio/

Look at his horse paintings too!

BABY TALK

All of my friends are pregnant right now. This has me surfing the internet a lotttt looking for cute baby gifts, etc.  I loved the pattern and idea behind this stroller blanket zippy inny thingy? Not sure what all the moms are calling it these days but I like it.

I like it uh-lot.

And you might as well go ahead and buy the diaper bag with a built-in changing pad.

I’m not even pregnant or thinking about getting pregnant but for some reason that built-in changing pad got me real excited.

Maybe a little too excited.

I think a did a “hooray!” alone in my kitchen when I saw that it folded out so you could change your baby’s diaper anywhere.

Who gets excited about that?

I need therapy.

Is it really Tuesday?

I think I’ll go start coffee maker and get to work.

Have a kick-a$$ week! Lurve, KK

FRAMING FABRICS

I’m in decorating mode. Once every few months, this personality trait makes its appearance and I literally become obsessed with the idea of finishing home projects.

Turns out my bank account never agrees with anything I pick out so I just fill up online shopping carts, realize I can’t afford anything I want and then close out the internet and cry myself to sleep. It’s a vicious cycle. Help.

I was cruising around Pinterest this morning–wait, hold up, step back, hit the floor, stop the press–do you know what Pinterest is? Visual stimulant overload is what they should have called it. Please, after reading this, mosey on over to Pinterest.com and sign yourself up. Sometimes when I’m feeling not-so-creative or not-so-inspired, I spend 30 minutes on Pinterest and I am cured.

Where was I? Oh yeah. I was cruising around Pinterest this morning and saw the photo above. I love fabrics. I’m about to embark on a new adventure to find the best fabric store in all of Mississippi, and when I find out where that is, I will share it with you. But I had never thought about framing fabrics before. I think it is a great idea and would be even cuter to use on a smaller scale.  For example, an 8X10 piece of fabric, framed for a small bathroom wall. I have to admit, the above photo is not my favorite fabric, not the color scheme of my house and not the frames I would have chosen. So basically, I don’t really like it at all. For me personally, I’m going to buy smaller vintage patterned fabric and then frame them in small vintage frames and then realize that I live in a hunting lodge that doesn’t match the vintage look and give them away as gifts.

If you know of any good fabric stores or websites, make sure you share the wealth and comment below.

Yay fabric!  PEACE OUT!

Awaiting Alice Jewelry

Meet Jackie and Laura. Two of my favorite Texas gals and long lost best friends.

Believe it or not, but once upon a time this tractor-riding-levee-walking-bream-fishing-woman roamed the streets of Austin, Texas, arm in arm with these two beautiful women—-and I miss them more than words can express.

Just when I think I am soooo creative, I stop by their blog or their ETSY store and I am blown away.

I am not worthy. I am not worthy.

Go check them out, buy something and be adorable!

xoxo, Kallie
